The Global Give Back Circle / Big Sisters

The Global Give Back organization is an initiative of leading organizations - such as Forbes and Microsoft - and V.I.Ps – such as Bill Clinton – to mentor disadvantaged girls. This worldwide mentor program matches girls in developing countries with mentors who are able to support, stimulate and follow them from primary school through to high school, college and beyond in order to encourage them to study well, achieve their goals and guide them to find good jobs.

The Big Sister program concentrates on girls. The organization is focused in Kenya on three projects and Blessed Generation Ruiru is among them .
The Big Sister mentor program in Ruiru starts guiding girls from primary school level. Their support comes not financially but by providing workshops, encouraging and supporting the girls emotionally through letter writing. Other donors provide the financial support for the girls at this stage.
However as soon as the girls have finished high school the girls need more financial support and the Big Sister program starts with sponsoring, a fixed amount per year per girl that has completed her high school education. Most of the time this amount is enough but some children have special qualifications and then another sponsor is required to assist with meeting this cost.
Immediately after high school the girls go to a boarding school formed by the Big Sister program for computer lessons, sponsored by Microsoft; they stay in this school until they start college or university.
